Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a mutual aid society that was founded in Ohio in 1935 by Bill W. and Dr. Bob. AA culture is centered around the teaching in a book by the same name — Alcoholics Anoymous. The book describes Twelve Steps to maintain sobriety. The Twelve Step program has been replicated across other mutual aid socieities.
