Program Description:
This #HellYes4Recovery session offers insight into the health care system and the implications it holds for peers in recovery. This introductory presentation provides an overview of health care reform in the U.S. and Texas, and reviews changes in access and delivery of health care to individuals and families.
#HellYes4Recovery hopes that through education and awareness, we can do our part to ensure all Texans have access to quality health care.
Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Discuss health care reform and its importance to recovery, including a general understanding of the relevant background, issues, and processes.
- Describe the disparity in health coverage rates in Texas vs. the rest of the US, as well as how this impacts Texans’ access to affordable health care, insurance premium rates, and property tax rates.
- Identify health insurance basics and coverage options for Texans.
