Research and identify state and federal laws that govern recovery residences paying particular attention to laws related to the services we provide, staff (volunteers, contractors and employees) and funding we receive
Establish policies and procedures (e.g. reasonable accommodation and reasonable modification) to avoid the risk of violating state and federal laws
Participate in educational events related to recovery housing and the law
Designate a compliance officer who is responsible for reviewing all operates for legal compliance and for educating staff on legal compliance
Conduct a compliance review (at a minimum annually)
When noncompliance is discovered, implement corrective actions to return to compliance
Complete a compliance attestation (at a minimum annually)
Communicate this policy and procedure to staff
