PRESS RELEASE
Mike Ferrer receives RecoveryPeople’s 2024 Media Award of the Year
Austin, TX – RecoveryPeople is delighted to announce that Mike Ferrer has been awarded the RecoveryPeople Media Award of the Year for his outstanding contributions to the recovery community through his platform, SoberPress.
About Mike Ferrer:
Mike Ferrer is an accomplished designer, recovering alcoholic who has been sober since April 9, 2019, and dog lover. Having spent much of his life in the South, Mike also lived in Portland, OR, where he began his career as an advertising Art Director. Now residing in Austin, TX, Mike transitioned from a long career at a large ad agency to working as a freelance designer after entering recovery.
Despite his struggles with alcohol, anxiety, depression, and self-confidence, Mike’s story of recovery is one of resilience and inspiration. In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, he conceived SoberPress as a positive outlet. He launched his Instagram account in August 2020, followed by the website soberpress.org in October 2020, and finally formed a Facebook group in November: SoberPress.
The mission of SoberPress (https://www.soberpress.org) is to create a ray of hope—a place where people at any stage in their addiction journey can feel inspired and supported without judgment. Mike aims to reach millions and positively influence their lives. The heart of SoberPress lies in its stories, which provide real-world insight and encouragement for those struggling with addiction. These stories help dispel the stigma associated with addiction and reinforce the belief that recovery is possible.
Mike believes that the past does not define us and that we can and do recover. His daily inspirational posts on Instagram (@soberpress) continue to uplift and motivate others in their recovery journeys.
RecoveryPeople congratulates Mike Ferrer on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to his continued positive impact on the community.
