How much time does it take to complete the self assessment and certification application?
This process is meant to be self paced. You can go as fast or slow as you want or need. If you have already developed written policies procedures as well as staffing and service plan, this may only take 1 to 2 hours. But many use this as a self assessment, helping them identify areas they have yet developed.

How much does it cost, if I submit the application for review?
The price varies from state to state and your total capacity. For example:

In Oklahoma, the state will scholarship the first 50 homes. So, get your application in ASAP. After that, OKARR will establish the price.

In Texas, certification is supported by the state (yet), and the cost is $500 flat fee + $10 per bed fee.

At what point do pay?

Once you submit your application for review, you will be directed to a shopping chart, where you can pay online. If you do not complete the payment, your application will not be reviewed.

Are discounts or scholarships available?
Some state agencies and 3rd party funders have begun underwriting the cost of certification reviews. Contact your state affiliate with questions.

This varies from state to state, but at a minimum, every two years.
