An estimated 1 in 10 people identify as being in recovery, and approximately 1 in 3 families are impacted by addiction. Yet, for various reasons, we are one of the most disenfranchised voting blocks in the nation. In a 2017 RecoveryPeople survey, over 30% said they were not registered to vote primarily because they viewed the system as too confusing or they believed that they could not vote due to a felony conviction.
