Peer Support Specialist – Survivor Housing (On Site)

Open Door is hiring a compassionate and dedicated Survivor Housing Peer Support Specialist to support survivors of domestic violence, including sex trafficking, and their families as they work toward healing and housing stability. This is a frontline, relationship-centered role grounded in trust, collaboration, and survivor-centered care. The Peer Support Specialist uses their past personal experiences in a healthy way to come alongside and provide support to other survivors individually and within group settings.

You’ll work as part of a close-knit team—paired directly with a Case Manager—to walk alongside a shared caseload of participants. Together, you’ll help survivors secure housing, connect with resources, and build a path toward long-term stability. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is passionate about justice, empowerment, and holistic support.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing direct services to sex trafficking survivors and their children.
• Create space and relational connection with survivors, replacing harmful bonds with healthy ones by seeking to provide basic needs, affirming, and valuing survivor’s holistic needs for long term healing, providing conflict resolution as needed, providing opportunities of empowerment, etc.
• Assist and lead survivor support groups.
• Work with survivors through recovery support, safety plans, and other tools for further healing.
• Plan events to celebrate participant’s birthdays, special anniversaries, and graduations.
• Connect survivors to needed benefits and work opportunities for economic empowerment.
• Maintain survivor files and information in strict confidentiality.
• Facilitate peer support with individual survivors as well as coordinating survivor group events.
• Support survivors with building life skills and tools for home care.
• Work closely with Case Manager partner to provide wrap-around support for survivors on caseload.
• Work within a highly collaborative team environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Schedule

The Survivor Housing Peer Support Specialist is based out of the Open Door Survivor Housing office and will travel to project participant’s apartments in both single-site and scattered-site apartments within the city of Lubbock to make participant contacts. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required based on participant availability or program needs. This position involves both office-based documentation and field-based relationship-building and service coordination.

• Full-time, Monday-Friday
• Occasional on-call required
• Must be able to lift and move items up to 50 lbs.
