Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, our hope is you will be able to:

  • Define workplace culture and stigma and describe their impact on individuals and organizations.
  • Identify common forms of stigma experienced by people with mental health, substance use, or recovery-related lived experience.
  • Apply practical strategies to reduce stigma and promote inclusion in workplace settings.
  • Demonstrate recovery-oriented communication practices that foster respect, belonging, and psychological safety.

Course Description

A recovery ready workplace culture supports recovery, inclusion, and well-being for everyone. This training explores how stigma can affect individuals with lived experience and provides practical strategies for creating more respectful, recovery-oriented workplaces. Participants will learn how peer specialists can model inclusive practices, challenge stigma, and contribute to environments where people feel valued, supported, and empowered.
