Course Description

The Art of Story Stewardship introduces peer specialists to ethical, powerful, and purpose-driven approaches for sharing lived experience. Participants will learn how to support the peer through consent-based storytelling, apply the Peer Code of Ethics to real-world scenarios, and practice crafting short recovery narratives that promote safety, connection, and hope. This session blends instruction with hands-on practice to strengthen confident, ethical story use in peer support settings.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Define story stewardship and apply the Ask-Share-Ask model to ensure consent-based, purposeful sharing of lived experience.
  2. Develop and deliver a concise recovery narrative using a structured, purpose-driven storytelling framework.
  3. Apply the Peer Code of Ethics to storytelling scenarios by identifying boundary issues, maintaining safety, and using trauma-informed practices.
