Course Description
Trauma impacts the ways people connect, communicate, respond to stress, and move through recovery. Peer specialists regularly support individuals navigating trauma-related experiences while also managing their own emotional activation and lived experiences within the work.
This training explores trauma through a peer-centered lens, focusing on the role of peer support in creating safety, connection, and values-based support without stepping into clinical or crisis-response roles. Participants will discuss common trauma responses, grounding strategies that can be used within peer practice, and ways to recognize personal activation while maintaining ethical and role-aligned support.
