How can research strengthen the future of PROs? This session explores how data, evaluation, and lived experience come together to demonstrate the value of PROs and sustain their growth. Featuring Dr. Justin S. Bell, Community Psychologist and Research Scientist at Chestnut Health Systems, this discussion highlights national trends in peer recovery research and the leadership role PROs can play in shaping how outcomes are measured and communicated.

Participants will learn why collecting and sharing data matters—even for grassroots, peer-led organizations—and how integrating lived experience leads to more meaningful, accurate, and impactful research. The session will also cover practical strategies for using research to enhance credibility with funders, legislators, and community partners.

Join us to discover how leadership in measurement helps ensure that the work of PROs is seen, understood, and valued in behavioral health systems across the country.

Course Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Explain why leadership in research and data collection is critical for the growth and sustainability of PROs.
Describe current research efforts on PROs and how lived experience adds depth and accuracy to evaluation.
Identify leadership strategies for integrating lived experience into research design, data interpretation, and outcome reporting.
