Course Description:
This 1-hour training helps program applicants, employers, and stake-holders knowledge on who peer specialists are and the value they bring to organizations and who employs them. It will also identify key workforce realities employers face when hiring, supporting and retaining peer specialists. It will also include role clarity and career pathways. As well as recognizing organizational resources that strengthen peer workforce sustainability and effectiveness.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify types of organizations that employ peer specialists
- Describe who peer specialists are and the value they bring to organizations and recovery-oriented systems of care.
- Identify key workforce realities employers face when hiring, supporting, and retaining peer specialists, including role clarity, compensation, and career pathways.
- Recognize organizational resources, including Peer-to-Career, that strengthen peer workforce sustainability and effectiveness.
