Joi Chevalier

Joi Chevalier is an affected family member and ally of recovery. Joi is a social entrepreneur who infused her technology and business background with culinary arts to found The Cook’s Nook, an incubator in the food+tech space. She is a vocal advocate for women and African Americans in technology and entrepreneurship. Joi is very civically active. She was the first African American woman to run for Comptroller of the State of Texas. She serves on the Board of Annie’s List and Naturally Austin. She works with the City of Austin’s Office of Sustainability’s Central Texas Regional Food Systems Organizing Committee. She has been a member of the Chefs Collaborative; Women in Food, Farming, and Food Technology; and Women Chefs and Restaurateurs. Joi is a member of the City of Austin/Travis County Food Policy Board, Les Dames d’Escoffier (Austin Chapter) and Google’s national Refresh Working Group. She is a founder and culinary lead for Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of Black Austin.
