Press Release: RecoveryPeople Honors Paul Jacobs as 2025 Peer of the Year
A Champion for Mental Health and Recovery in the Legal Community

RecoveryPeople is proud to announce Paul Jacobs as the 2025 Peer of the Year Award recipient, honoring his unwavering commitment to mental health advocacy and peer support within the legal profession.
Paul Jacobs currently serves as an attorney and a dedicated professional with the Texas Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP). He also leads as president of Texas Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, a peer-driven organization supporting attorneys navigating mental health and substance use challenges. Through public speaking and outreach, Paul has become a powerful voice in destigmatizing mental health and substance use disorders across the legal landscape.
Whether engaging with lawyers, judges, or law students, Paul brings compassion, expertise, and lived experience to critical conversations around burnout, compassion fatigue, suicide awareness, anxiety, and depression. His work not only educates—it empowers.
While Paul’s professional achievements are numerous, he shares that his greatest source of pride is his long-term recovery and the privilege of being of service to others. His journey is a testament to resilience, hope, and the transformative power of peer support.
Paul extends heartfelt gratitude to his life partner, Debra, and his adult children, Austin and Nicole, whose love and support have been instrumental in his path.
RecoveryPeople celebrates Paul Jacobs not only for his leadership, but for the light he brings to others walking the path of recovery. His story reminds us that recovery is not just possible—it’s powerful.
